Distant Wind is a video work exploring loss and memories based on my own experience of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the tsunami which happened in North Japan in 2011..

The video is structured around my narration, combining news footage from the time of the disaster with the moving images of my own. By bridging both time and place - my current life in Scotland and my past in Japan - I searched for fragments of memory, contemplating detachment from reality and the universal concept of time.
